Hello, does anyone know why or how to fix this problem with the flash color palette not matching dreamweavers color palette?

All the web-snap safe colors (hex values) that i use doesn't blend in with the page. For instance, i set a dreamweaver background page properties with a color and set the same hex value for the flash background color but the flash color is always a tad bit brighter than dreamweavers background color (enough so you can see the difference on the page). I would appreciate any help anyone can offer in correcting this problem.

Thanks.

Greetings fellow flasher,
In DW4 insert your swf file into the page. Once inserted into your page, you can click on the flash movie to select it. Then from the properties inspector you can change the background color of the flash movie. To do this simply select flash movie then use the Bg color cube in dw4 and pick the bg of your web page. The flash movie will display the new color after you pick it. Did you know that you can also play you rmovie inside of a dw web page. Try doing this to see the results of the new color. Hope this helps. Cheers,

Greetings,

The issue has more to do with your monitor resolution than anything. Do you have it set to "Millions of Colors" (Mac) or "True Colors" on a Windows machine? I had the same issue and this is what was explained to me by someone very knowledgable on the subject.

"True color" on Windows is equivalent to "Millions of colors" on Mac. So
even those "True color" is "32bits" deep and "Millions of colors" is only
24bits deep, they are the exact same thing and in fact BOTH are truly 32bits
deep! Both use 8 bits for each channel (RGB) and an additional 8bits either
for alpha (compositing) or just for padding. Also, FYI, hexadecimal color
notation (like in HTML, where you represent colors like #66FF22) is 24bit
color (each digit in hex is worth 4 bits). 24/32bit color is able to
represent 16.8 million distinct colors (16,777,216 to be exact, or 2 to the 24th power)
On the other hand, 16bit is difficult for the Web because most of it's
colors fall in between (mathematically) the colors in the full 24/32 bit
spectrum... So 16bit colors have to be resampled to the nearest full
spectrum (24/32bit) color and there are sometimes different results between
different apps (and different Oses) for how they choose to resample the
color!

For example: #666666 is a neutral gray (40%)... The problem is when you are
in a 16bit color space there is no EXACT 40% gray - there is something like
a 39.997% gray and a 40.002% gray! So fortunately Mac and Windows happen to
use the same method to decide which is closer, so 16bit colors resample the
same way on both Mac and Windows. This is good. The REAL problem is certain
applications, such as Flash (and certain browsers!), implement their OWN
resampling methods and somethings those methods are slightly different so in
some cases they may choose a different resample color. So on the same page
you may have #666666 in HTML which resamples to 39.997% gray and you have a
Flash element also with #666666 which unfortunately samples to 40.002%. Terrible!

Though this is an obvious problem with Macromedia (and other offending
applications) the reality is it's really a problem inherent to 16bit color.
16bit color has ok range (even with just 32 thousand colors you can make
images look like continuous tone) but mathematically it's incompatible with
the other major color spaces! So the moral is, FORGET 16BIT COLOR! It's almost worse than 8bit color!

BTW...here is some good info on "Web Safe" colors:

First of all, before ANYTHING else, completely forget about Web safe colors. It is probably one of the saddest and biggest hoaxes ever played on the Internet! movement! read on:

cheers!
