Hi all,

I'm working on a children's flash coloring book. I've got the scripting to click on color options and fill in shapes on the page. So I've got the basics. My understanding is that for the younger kid style where they click and fill in large chunks, that each piece needs to be its own movieclip.

I'm just curious, if anyone knows of a smart way to go from a flat line drawing to slicing it up into all the little unique movieclips. Seems time intensive.

Any suggestions?
Much appreciated,
Jess

Okay, I'm answering my own question here just incase someone else needs this in the future:

For a children's coloring book that allows you to click areas of the page & fill in color (much like the paint bucket tool), each section that you can drop color into must be its own movie clip.

In Flash, you can use the Autotrace or Trace Bitmap capability to really speed up the process of going from line drawing to a sliced up version with movieclips for each section. First import a jpg of your coloring book page (just a black line drawing). Select Modify->Bitmap->Trace Bitmap.

Now, you can select all of the black parts (lines), group them, copy them, cut them and paste them into a layer above your other shapes. What remains are easily selectable chunks of the drawing that you can individually make into movieclips.
