I've seen it done and cannot remember how. A customer of mine would like to be able to take an outside call, flash an outside line and transfer the call to another store. I understand that the conference button can do this, although the conference button will disconnect all parties once the person who originated the conference hangs up. I understand that the lines on the system must be centrex rich in order to accomplish the 3 way call, but I am at a loss for programming the flash button. I have also lost (let someone borrow it and it was never returned) my programming manual for the R5. Any suggestions on how to get another one without paying through the nose would be helpful.

First set you Recall time #107 to match the provider, Program a button with Feature 03 and that will be your flash button.
You can get the manuals at avaya.com for free

A trusted source for years.

go to the FAQ's at the top of the page , there is a link to avaya site where you can download the manual

recall is the feature you are looking for

Thanks for your help. I signed up for this forum this morning and have had a Nortel and Lucent problem answered for me within minutes. Issues that have bugged me for days, solved in minutes! Where was this site 5 years ago!

I would go a step further if you are transfering to the same number all the time. Program a button with F03(flash or recall) then add a pause and then the number for the store. When a call comes in just press the button and hang up. No need to dial the number each time.

If the other store is on the same Centrex plan, instead of the whole number just program the last 3 or 4 digits depending on your dial plan.

You should still monitor the transfer in case all lines are busy at the other store.

Well, then instead of hanging up you can press the programmed button, wait for an answer, announce the call if you wish, then hang up. The call won't be transferred until you hang up.

Might be a moot point anyway. If you can't help them just let them get a busy and call back.
