Flash and XML

Is it possible to create a XML file on the user's hardisk using either a Flash EXE or a shockwave running from the client's CDROM

any help will be appreciated

Flash can´t just write files onto your hard disk, or other wise people could overwrite your autoexec.bat to format your hard drive. Flash is restricted in this way just like any other web based app.

What you can do is run a server app off the CD, and get the flash to run from the server (which would always be at the address and get the flash to use Perl or PHP to write the file.

All you need is a server that will run off a CD. I know they exist. You can try EZserver (which is just a single .exe file) but I don´t know if it runs any scripting languages like perl or PHP.

Maybe someone else knows of another server.
