i am trying to install a Flash 2 (sw 1.44) on a CICS 4x8 DR1.0 I cannot access the flash at all. I reset the admin password and it won't let me login, it just says "Exit".

my goal is swap out the CICS software for a 8x16 s/w 4.2. however with the 4.2 s/w the flash would not even respond to the login codes so i tried with the old software.

When I connect my serial cable this is what I get upon powering up (PLEASE HELP):

Did you try "config" as the password when you try logging in after F983? Kevin Clear

You can't use flash 1.44 with CICS 4.2 .The minimum revision required for the flash is 1.9 or higher.Its time for the upgrade you can upgrade by replacing the s/w card only and keeping the flash unit.

Good Luck.

JS,
Check:
Flash is seen in maintenance;
Try dialing 'config' after F983;
Clear all old codes from KSU using XFTEST (see FAQ);
Press star from F981 entry to gain LOG prompt-then dial
in administrater's PWD;

and post back with updates.

Cheers

Yes Jsaad,

Samh is correct, if you look at the compatibility matrix you'll see the same info.

Jsaad,
Sam is correct about 1.44 and 4.2, but didn't I read you were trying to install the 1.44 Flash onto 1.0 4x8 CICS? Then migrate to 4.2 CICS?

PhM

Good eye, Arr, I didn't even catch that. Then it sounds like what you need to do Jsaad is Feature 903 first. Then do Feature 983 with a password of Config.

Good Luck
