I know I am behind times, but this seems like a simple question, I just can't solve it myself.

What I am looking for is an animation where when you mouse-over a button, it surges and glows, then recedes slowly if your mouse leaves the button. Its easy enough to create the neccessary movie clips, but whenever I take my mouse off the button it instantly reverts to its normal state rather than slowly shrinking. How can I cause the button to slowly return to its normal state after mouse-contact is done.

ok mate wherever your MC dealing with the animation your triggering with the button, create another MC on the same level. This Mc contains no object but only three keyframes.
the first one is a stop, the second one is a tell target (animation) go to previous frame statement, the third one is a go to frame 2 and play.

So on roll out event of your button you give an order to this 3 frames MC to go to frame 2 and play... in this way the 3 keyframes MC goes to two (telling animation go to previous frame) then keyframe three which tells it again to go to two and repeat the action and this until your animation is at frame 1.
so to repeat myself: the button on roll out triggers the 3 keyframes MC which loops between frames 2 and 3 while each time frame 2 is triggered it says to your animation to go to the previous frame.
the loop between 2 and 3 beeing a split second your animation smoothly goes back to initial state backwards.

am i clear or am i clear? If problems tell me
regards.

I think I get it, I'll give that a shot. I found another way of just adding the fade-out clip to the UP state of the button with a stop action at the end, but then when the page loads the button fades out instead of just appearing.
