I would like to know how can I fix some scans of images from an old paper. The problem is actually in yellowish
paper (almost brown) which I need to remove in order to
print these images without this problem (color).
If this question was asked before, please redirect me.

See thread229-785448 and see the 2nd post by SPYDERIX

His instructions removed all the yellow from my scan of an old yellowed receipe. (I didn't convert it to black & white)

Is this image just black an white? If not make it completely black and white. Adjust your levels as needs and then go in with your paintbrush and touchup any spots that are slightly grey or faded etc.

Then do the following:
Select All (Ctrl+A)
Cut (Ctrl+X)
Quickmask Mode (Q)
Paste (Ctrl+V)
Get out of Quickmask (Q)
Invert the Selection (Ctrl+Shift+I)
Choose Default Colors (D)
Edit > Fill > Foreground Color
Deselect (Ctrl+D)

Done. You have now perfectly extracted your black and white signature using quickmask. You don't have to mess around with the magic wand or color range or anything. This will give you a perfect extraction. Now you can turn this into a vector shape and export to AI or whatever you want to do with it.

Hope this helps!

Will this work on color images on scan?
There are a color images on those scans, so I can't convert it to black&white.

I scanned old hand written receips (millions of colors mode) and has the same yellowing problem you described.

I didn't convert to B/W and it worked just fine.

If you have a color image on the scan, you may need to put the image on a separate layer then try

Select All (Ctrl+A)
Cut (Ctrl+X)
Quickmask Mode (Q)
Paste (Ctrl+V)
Get out of Quickmask (Q)
Invert the Selection (Ctrl+Shift+I)
Choose Default Colors (D)
Edit > Fill > Foreground Color
Deselect (Ctrl+D)

Do you have many scans to fix?

In your case, is it easy to separate the colored pics from the background?

Yes, I have a lot of scans to fix.
