Hi, just curious how could i fix my hard disk.
im trying to format my harddisk and when it reaches certain amount, (70%), the computer stops responding.

You may want to pop another disk drive in there to see if it is in fact a hard disk problem. You might try fdisk delete partition and recreate partition and then try formatting again. Over heating of the processor can cause this as well so make sure your fan is running.

The only way I know that may repair the drive is through either Spinrite5 from Gibson Research Corporation or Norton Disk Doctor (Think it comes w/ Norton System works??). They should be able to do a surface scan and mark that spot bad. Once marked bad you should be able to use drive normally.

Have you tried scandisk from DOS? (scandisk/all)- sometimes the simplest things can work. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my knowledge. Andy.
