When running a Crosstab report, using Impromptu Version 7.2mrI The column information differs each time a differing prompt is entered and the report run, but the column widths remian the same size which does no always accomdates the data in the field. Has any one any ideas how to fix the column widths to a set size or fix them to be able to view the data in them.

Andy,

I've done this before, but only with predictable column numbers. In financial reports that give columnar monthly data, I always run the report for period 12 of a prior year when maintaining it. Then I format the columns for periods 1-12 to have the formatting and size I want. If you save the report and make it read-only to the users, it will always give consistent results when run for a lesser number of periods.

Not sure if this helps you, but it may get you thinking about how to handle your situation.

I've had the same problem with crosstabs. Worse, any formatting of the columns headers or cells is wiped whenever a column is added or removed with the data.

I've stopped using crosstabs and use forulas instead to create the columns now, but this only works if you have a finite number of known values for the column headings.
