I am using CR ver 8.0. Some lines of my report are printing multiple times. How do I prevent this from happening?
Using "suppress if duplicated" on a per *field* basis does not give me what I need. I need to suppress an entire print line if it is a duplicate of the line before it.
Ideas? Thank you in advance.

Best is to find out why you have a duplicate. This is typically caused by a join that has a one - to - many relationship. You may also be able to add a criteria that eliminates these extra records.

You might try the "select Distinct" option if it is available in your database menu. This only works in SQL environments, and only if all of the fields used in the report are duplicated.

Otherwise you have to find a field that you can group on that brings the duplicates into one group, place the printing fields on the group footer and suppress all of the details. Ken Hamady

Ken - Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll go with your 3rd method, since I'm already choosing "select Distinct" and with my current level of programming competency, using the tables I've got, I seem to be stuck with a one-to-many relationship.

This will work, but you will need to use running totals for any total on the report. Set them to evaluate once per group so that you don't get inflated totals. Ken Hamady

Ken - I followed your advice, and am using running totals.
The results are exactly what I need.
THANK YOU for the help. Jon Bartels

Ken, wanted to bump this one up. You answered a problem I've been having for a couple of days with this.

Thanks.
