I may be being dense, but I can't get this function to work. I have text (tried both paragraph and artistic) and a frame, the command is available (i.e. not greyed out) but it won't go. Coreldraw v11. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Smokeycat !

Using the text tool, draw a paragraph frame, type some text into it, make sure the frame with its contents is selected, then click Fit text to frame, and it should work.

If the text you typed did not fill the frame, all this action will do is increase the type size.

If you type more text than would initially fit into the frame, then this action will decrease the type size.

Hope this helps,

Ah, BernBennett - thanks for that, but I think I've been misunderstanding the "frame" concept [blush]. I think maybe I should be using "envelope" because I actually want the text to fit within a shape, rather than a text frame. So I tried that this morning, and can't get that to work either. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Smokey [cat2]

Hi Smokey,

Don't know if this works in V11, but it works in X3.

With the text tool, click inside the frame, the curser should change to a text imput curser when inside the frame, input your text, and it should follow the contours of the frame.

May need some juggling with the text formatting to get it OK. Once you have the basic shape you can seperate it from the frame, then position it exactly where you want it, then regroup it.
