Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to specify a way of setting the maximum font size when you are using the "Fit text to frame" utility when writing text into fields?

Basically I have a set of square boxes, could be 200 boxes which I enter text into and need to find a quick way of centering the text into the boxes without having to "Align and distribute" every instance.

This takes me about 20 minutes per document and I need to find a quick way of centering them all into the boxes I have written them in.

When you use "Fit text to frame", it changes the font size, but all I want is the text to just center it's self in the square box when I select multiple objects.

Any ideas would be great.

Thanks

The fit to frame option is going to make the text as large as the frame - hence the name. The only way to "constrain the text size is to constrain the frame size. This would be a possibility - make all your boxes, then create all your pragraph text boxes smaller then the physical box. You can align and distribute all of those at one time (or as you are making them). You can set the default size and formating for the paragraph text, then as you type it in, the text is already centered relative to the boxes. This will take a bit of setting up, but once you get the first few set, between the step and repeat options and copy and paste, it shouldn't take long to get the basic outline arranged. Just be sure your first few items are layered correctyl.

I am guessing that you are typing more then one or two words into the textsince you are using the paragraph tool? Otherwise, "C" and "E" are really quick shortcuts for centering objects with small text.

It is possible a macro or VBA script might solve your problem. Without knowing more about your project, Corel Draw may not be the best tool for the job. If this is something that changes or updates on a regular basis, this might be a better project for MS Word using the "mail merge" - even if you are doing flow charting or something similar. In word, you can create a "text box" for each of your squares, then insert your mail merge "holder" in the text box.
