I have an NT 4 domain with approx 15 users running win 98, 2000 and xp.

I've just bought a win 2000 server what is the best way to install the new server in place of the old NT 4 pc.

Using NT I would put the new server in as a BDC and promote it to a PDC then remove the old server. Do I do something similar with Win 2k or is there another method.

Thanks in advance.

Win2K server doesn't use the PDC and BDC model, you just have DC's.

You can add it into the domain, but I would suggest creating a new one and migrating everyone across. But I would seriously consider having 2 DC's.

You are gonna have to implement a new 2000 Active Directory, unless you just add the 2000 server to your current domain as a member server. You can't have a mixed DC's if your domain is NT 4, where in AD you can.
