Hello there,

I am installing for the first time and it is not as straight-forward as I assumed it to be.

One, after installation I am unable to figure out where the 'Enterprise manager' is.

First, I am using my laptop and this is the only machine I have got right now. It runs Windows XP SP 2. Since I am broke, dont suggest me to another system.

And, A, Control Panel -> Service panel is still not listing any SQL server related service. When I run Surface Area Configuration I see this error:

'TITLE: Surface Area Configuration
------------------------------

No SQL Server 2005 components were found on the specified computer. Either no components are installed, or you are not an administrator on this computer. (SQLSAC)

------------------------------'

Any help is appreciated. I am a first time user of 2005 server and seems to me like I have messed up my installation.

Please help,
Sameer

It sounds like you didn't install the server or the client tools. I'm not sure what pieces you have installed.

Run through the installer again and when you get to the screen with all the services listed make sure that you select the SQL Server and the client tools.
