First Time Making Titles in AE6

I'm new at AE6, and I made my first title. It is just simple text, and I save it to an AVI, import it to Premiere Pro, but it's black background covers the video beneath it. How to you get rid of the black background in AE6 or Premeire Pro?

I'm not sure, but I don't think AVI carries alpha channel. Try saving it as animation million colors + and make sure you check save alpha channel.

Or save it as a Targa sequence, 32 bits.

Using Screen as a transfer mode might key out the black, too.

I used AE5.5 to make my first title sequence a couple of weeks ago. I made a 720-pixel wide and very, very tall image of my titles in Photoshop, then saved the PSD and imported only the text layer. Then I used the keyframe motion to simply scroll from the top to the bottom for the duration of the end title song.

In the background, I put a gently moving starfield, with some wispy purple clouds. Came out great!

I used a flaming pear plug-in called gliterato and a piece of software called "Universe" from Diard Software.
