first time making shoping cart

Hi,

I am buildng a small ecommerce website using ASP. I want to
make a shopping cart. Do i need to make the shopping cart from the scratch using my own logic?....Or most of the small businesses who have ecommerce website do something else? I am doing it for the first time so plz bear with me.

As sleipnir214 pointed out, there are many free shopping cart applications out there in whatever programming language you want to use. You would probably be better off just finding one that suites your needs and using it. Most of the time, the people who wrote those programs have already gone through the trials of testing, debugging, and have probably already fixed problems and added features that you haven't even thought of yet. There's no sence in reinventing the wheel, it's a lot easier to spend a couple of hours downloading an application and setting it up than it is to spend days(weeks? months?) trying to build one on your own.
