Hi All,

Brand new to cisco so please be patient,

I have a install disc for 7.1(2a) BE the disc also includes Unity connection

I have 2 7825 servers,

My question is on the initial install of the of the software can I install both Business Edition and Unity connection on the same server, will it prompt me to install both or do I need to install unity on one and BE on the other?

Would another option be installing vm ware then installing both on the same server?

Any help on this will be appreceiated, I am a Nortel guy trying to navigate cisco docs!

the software you have as you mentioned is for BE which stands for business edition.
Business edition goes up to 500 users (if licensed) and runs call manager and Unity connection on the same server and they share a database. Separating the 2 is not an option in this case and it is a single server design.
It is designed for smaller businesses that do not require redundancy.
it is an appliance and requires a specific server, it will not install on a 7825. You need a MCS7828I4-K9-BE7 (cisco part to install it.
I have not installed BE in vmware so I am not sure how that will work.

You might need to get your hands on a regular 7.x cucm and unity connection disc instead.

The disk you have will install CallManager on your servers. It will NOT install Unity Connection unless as whykap said you have the proper hardware MCS7828.
The new disks from Cisco discover the type hardware you have and installs the correct version of CallManager based on the hardware.

Thanks for the info,

This will help me out a lot

Is there a guide somewhere on the cisco site that gives you software and hardware compatibility?
