is there a way for Cr 8.5 to give the first record (of each grouping) a specific score?
EX: i am doing a turnover time report that adds up the elapsed time from when a pt leaves a room until the next patient is brought in; but when it is the first case of the day it is automatically giving it a zero... while that IS correct, i would rather it say n/a or something; so when the docs look at it, they will see actual turnvoer numbers, and not be confused with all the surgeries as far as average times go.

any help would be appreciated ...

If you want the first record of a group then do the calculations in the Group header. The record at the time the header is processed is the first one for that group.

If it's for display only then create a formula :

@Zero
If {Field} = 0 then "N/A" else ""

Place this on the report where the other field is. Then conditionally suppress both fields :

@Zero suppress - {Field} <>0
{Field} suppress - {Field} =0
