Hello! I have a client with a 23 room motel, I have partner Rel 7 with single line room phones. What is the best setup for this environment? Build a disallow list with a 1? Add an allow list of local numbers and toll free numbers? How does someone actually call long distance if they want to and the manager or owner wants to let them? I have the adapter for the smdr port so I thought about downloading a trial of some call accounting software so the manager can verify if any long distance calls were made.

Anything else, like I will disable the ling ringing on extensions, change the order to intercom, 2nd line, 1st line. Have I missed anything?

Thanks to those that post in this forum, it is very helpful. I've used quite a bit in the past!

There is a "Call Restrict" button available - it will toggle the extension from No Calls/Local Calls Only/All Calls. However, it only restricts 1 as the 1st digit, so if you have 7-digit toll calling, that's useless. The allow list also overides this restriction.

You could restrict "wild" (any dialed digit), and then allow each local prefix, and 1800, 1888, etc. Don't allow 0. This works well for most motels with free local calling, and calling cards.

If you do Call Accounting, you can use the Call Restrict button to make them No Calls/All Calls, but ignore the Local Calls option.

Be sure 911 is in the Emergency List.

If any of the rooms are on power failure transfer ports, move your lines around so they don't get free dial tone when the power is out.

Make the Keysets in the motel also get Intercom first, because they will do a lot of calling to the rooms with DSS buttons, and you don't want them transferring dial tone.

Make the transfer return rings 9, or no return at all.

Use DXD or card mail auto attendant at night to transfer callers to rooms.

Be sure the credit card machine gets Dial Tone first, not intercom, and is not restricted.

Don't put privacy on the room extensions, so the Innkeeper can barge in if necessary.
