The issue I am having is with our phone firmware server (PFS). Currently we have a system running in each of our 3 regions globally. It is running on a Windows 2K3 platform using IIS (Not MvIPTel)and serves the locations in that region with firmware and 46xx settings based on the office location. We manage the connection, settings and backup location via DHCP scopes.
An effort had ben started by another team to re-create these servers on a Win2K8 R2 platform running Tomcat with some security changes in place. The pilot system is up and running. However, since the pilot was configured and deployed in our lab, the folks that configured it have left the company. And of course...no documentation /detail of the configuration.
We are now being asked to decomm the old 2k3-IIS servers and migrate to new 2k8-Tomcat to be built based on the pilot. We have built a couple, but cannot get the phones to connect to the Tomcat webserver and pull new settings files.
Initially the phones were trying to connect to the correct IP address, but were receiving a 'HTTP 1 -1' message. We found that they were trying to connect to port 80 when the server was set to port 8080. Once this was changed, we no longer got the 'HTTP 1 -1' message. We started getting a 'HTTP 1 -404' message and still no settings or firmware were pulled.
We have since examined the directory structure and user rights. No glaring issues were found here.
I realize our setup is far from standard, but I cannot find any reference to using Tomcat for a PFS. The only docs I can seem to find refer to using MvIPTel.
Does anyone have any info on how to configure Windows 2k8/Tomcat setup for use in this manner?
