I just hooked up a Digital 30 box and upgraded it to firmware version 6.0(5) I was working with 2 DS-8's and now I need to upgrade. I removed the DS-8's and defaulted everything. The 500 software is 4.0(7). After I hooked up the DS30 my caller id is only 5 digits and some of the phones need to be unplugged and plugged back in or there is no info on there except the a= b= c=. The extension is missing unless I unplug it and plug it back in. Everything was fine until I hooked up this ds30. So hopefully with the above information I can get the following questions answered.
1. Why am I only getting 5 digits of caller id (everything has been defaulted)
2. Am I on the newest s/w for the ds30?
3. Why do I need to unplug and plug back in the workstations to get the info on the display?

Your DS30 is on the wrong version Im afraid. The number in brackets needs to match.

So as long as you have the correct manager version for your IP500 you should have the correct bin files for the DS30.

This no doubt should sort the majority of your issues. A Question! You do have a Pro Lic on your system dont you? (Think this is a yes otherwise you would not be able to upgrade the DS30 module)

OK you need to upgrade your DS30 to 6.0 (7) in that case.

If you are upgrading a DS 16 or a DS 30 module, remember to upgrade to 5.2(999) loader first then to 6.0 (5) or 6.0 (7)
You may encounter problems later if you add VCM's or 6408 phones to your system.
Reason is: Been their done that.
Just a suggestion.

Thedoz, Thanks for the reminder, I totally forgot about the loader. How do I default the DS30 box??

You don't have to default the DS 30. In the Manager folder, copy the ip500.bin file to the V3_2_999 folder.

1. Open the Manager application.
2. Before starting any upgrades ensure that you have received and made a backup copy of the latest IP Office configuration. If for any reason the upgrade fails, the current configuration may be erased, so a backup copy is essential.
3. From the file menu go to Change Working Directory and change the Binary Directory to C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\V3_2_999.
4. In Manager select File | Advanced | Upgrade. This will start the UpgradeWiz application.
5. After a few seconds the upgrade wizard should show the units found.
6. Down grade to 5.2(999)
7. After down grade, remove the V3_2_999 from the Binary directory. and upgrade to 6.0 (7)

Ahhhhhh, downgrade then upgrade, makes sense. Thank you for the detailed instructions.

Have a great weekend!!!

Remember, just downgrade and upgrade DS 30 module only, not the control unit.

we just had some today that were not upgraded right. They did not do the 5.2(999) upgrade and all the 44xx phones would reboot. Even on the new IP500 digital modules.
