I am new to Telecomm work. I had a question about downloading the latest firmware software to our 3900 series phones. Searching through the forum I have found mounds and mounds of helpfull information and I would like to thank everybody for their usefull knowledge. My question is, what is the difference between FDLF and FDLU? I have been using the FDLU command to download the firmware, but I had a set lock up on me and I was searching on how to stop the download and I found info on using FDLF to download the firmware. I used that command on the locked up set and it started the download over. Which was great. I checked the firmware version using the FWVU command and it was updated. I would just like to know what the difference is between FDLU and FDLF. Thanks for any help in advance. It is greatly appreciated.

If my memory serves me correctly

FDLF - Is a forced download to specific TN whatever
FDLU - Is a download to a specific TN when it becomes Idle

Cheers!!

You can't use the FDLU command on a phone that has the current firmware release. You can try but if you watch you will see it doesnt do anything. FDLF will force the firmware even if you have the current firmware on the phone.
