I am new to computers, recently i bought a JVC digital camcorder and a DV to Firewire cable to fit it, sadly DV to USB is non existant.

The question is, i need to enable firewire on my motherboard (Elite K7VTA3), but the manual doesn't speak of it, maybe you top notch people at tek tips could give me a helping hand

You will probably have to get a PCI firewire card if the motherboard does not have it (and I would hope if it had it it would be mentioned in the manual).

It looks like that mobo doesn't have firewire. As franklin said, your best bet would be a firewire controller card. I looked that mobo up with Google, and I couldn't find firewire mentioned.
