My firewire Lacie hard drive is not being recognized by XP.
It is listed in the 'System information' as a DISK but not as a DRIVE.
This drive was previously used on a Mac. Does it need re-formatting in order to be recognized? and if so, how do I go about doing that?

Try going to and download the appropriate drivers for you HD. I'd say yes.. you do need to reformat/repartition it for windows as windows wont read mac format.. I am not sure if this can be done but the page above should help.

The downloads on that page were not needed; however I emailed Lacie who told me to: RIGHT click 'My Computer' select 'Manage' and then proceed to 'Initialise' the new, now visible drive space and then to 'format' in the normal way.
I've done all this and now have a new drive!
Many thanks,
pilihp
