Firewire disk formatted by mistake - How can I recover

I have, by mistake of course, formatted one of my FireWire LaCie 80Go disk. Is there a way to recover my files ? I tried "Data rescue", and it has found some of my files, but it cannot determine the "base block" number. I'm sure the block size is 4K. Is there a way to find this "base block".

Is there a disk editor mac OS 9 or X compatible to search for text in the whole disk ?
