Hi
I am having quite a problem connecting my JVC DVX4 camcorder to my computer via firewire.
I am running an Athlon XP 2100 using an Asus A7V333 mainboard with a firewire port.
My operating system is Windows XP Pro updated with Service Pack 1.
In Device Manager the Firewire port is listed as 'This Device is working properly'
The driver is the Microsoft IEEE 1394 OHCI.
When I connect my camera in Play mode via the firewire cable and power up with the DC adaptor the camera is not listed in Device Manager.
I downloaded the Microsoft Utility named 'Amcap' from the pinnacle site to test my connection, when I run it I receive the message:
Sorry you have no Video Capture Hardware.
I have also tried the Texas and Via OHCI drivers.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Rgds

Hello,

With most firewire cards it is required that your computer is shut down before you connect your camera.
So be sure your pc is powered down. Then connect your camera to the firewire port. Turn your camera on. Now start up your computer.

Now the camera should be seen by your software.

Good luck.
