I'm new to unix, coming straight from a windoze environment.

Does anyone know any free, easy to setup firewalls that i could use.

I know Mandrake Linux comes with free firewall software.
I dot know any free ones for solaris. Too bad I.T. is not cash business

Solaris doesn't come with any free firewall software bundled. You can however make it act as a simple filtering router with no additional software, but an extra Netcard. But it is fiddly and not at all user friendly.

All "standard" Linux distributions have this kind of free software bundled. IPChains is it's name. There are also bolt-on GUIs for this prog.

If you are not bound to Solaris, I would go with Linux. There's more free stuff out there. Ian
