I recently changed the password on my Yahoo email account and since then, whenever I launch Firefox (3.0.3), I get the following error message:
"Invalid username/password combination. If you continue to get this error, try entering your email address as your username."

I've tried posing this problem on the Firefox troubleshooting forum, but no one has been able to offer a solution. I've also:
-following the above instructions--no luck
-deleted all cookies that contained the word Yahoo in them
-deleted cookies.txt and another file named something like cookies.????
-tried accessing my Yahoo account using IE: no problem here at all--the error message only occurs when I use Firefox.
All with no luck. Would be grateful for any suggestions on how to correct this.

- Did you clear any passwords stored by FireFox (tools ->options, security tab and click on "saved passwords")?

- Do you have Yahoo set to autologin when you launch FireFox? If so have you tried logging in to Yahoo from FireFox and turning off the autologin, changing your password, and then turning autologin back on? I'm sorry if I'm off track on this one but I don't use Yahoo mail for anything useful so I can't remember on whether it has an autologin feature or not.

- Did you clear your cookies while within Firefox but with Yahoo closed (tools ->Options, privacy tab and click on "show cookies")?

Cheers.

In addition, have you cleared the cache? I'm pretty sure FF uses a different cache from IE. FF might have cached an old version of the page.
Tools | Clear Private Data - cache is a tick box option.

Also, at the most paranoid extreme, have you created a 'sign-in seal' in Yahoo? (this is explained on the logon page, just above the logon prompts). If not, you could log on via IE and set on up (note that it relies on a cookie on the PC so it will be different across different PCs). Once you have one, go back to FF and make sure it appears on the Yahoo logon page. If it doesn't, after clearing the FF cache, you aren't at a genuine Yahoo page and FF is somehow being redirected incorrectly.

Thanks for your advice--it was on target. The problem cleared up when I deleted the password from "Saved passwords" and, just to make sure, unselected the auto log on. The sign-on process then essentially started from zero and I was able to set up my log on as I originally had it, sans error message.
