Firebox 700 VPN

I have an NT4 network with a firebox 700 handling VPN connections with PPTP.

I have a user running XP on his desktop that needs access to our network. I can get him connected to the firebox 700 VPN.

By adding an entry to the Hosts file on his PC, I can get him connected to our exchange server so he can use Outlook for his mail.

He can't see any of the servers on the network to be able to map drives (actually, doesn't see anything on our network in the netwrok display box of XP). Internally, we have to add the NETBUI protocol to XP to see the servers, but as netbui isn't routable, I don't expect this will solve my problem.

Our network uses external WINS and DNS servers (I inherited the network setup...).

How do I get him to be able to see the internal servers and map network drives?

Thanks,

...Dave

The easy way would be to map all the servers in the 'hosts' file.

Even if the servers can't be browsed to, as long as you are using IP, you can still map drives by IP (\\<server_IP>\<sharename>).

hello,

If you are unable to see your local drives Via VPN,you may need to add a packet filter SMB and allow incoming PPTP users to access the machines/files/folders into your LAN.

See if that helps.
