Last year we were delivered an IBM Intellistation Z Pro with Raid 5, 512mb ram, Xeon 1000 proc., and 64bit PCI Raid controller. You'd think this machine would scream right? Well, video on this machine is very very very slow, and gittery. This machine is supposed to play mpeg2 video on an HD Projector in a theatre setting. I can play a simple 6mbit mpeg2 program stream and it gitters, drops frames and looses audio sync. Now, this video card looks pretty good, it's a Diamond Multimedia FireGL 2 with 64mb ram and AGP4X.

I've tried everything to get this to run faster. Reinstalled the OS, added RAM, replaced HDs, upgraded all drivers and firmware and tried various mpeg directvideo filters, and to no avail.

The last thing I tried was putting this 50 dollar Nvidia TNT M64 card in and poof, perfect video. I know the firegl card is supposed to be pretty good? Am I wrong about this?

Thanks

Maybe someone forgot to load the Diamond drivers and the thing is software excellerating and not using the card as it should. Martin Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.
