does anyone any idea what's creeping in when you observe your apache server is slowing down? using "netstat" looks like it's hanging for awhile under telnet and http (specially http).

i am using red hat 9 linux and apache. my hardware/server is a brand new hp server, 2 processors, raid, etc...

i'm accessing the site within LAN, but internet web browsing is much faster.

Do you have DNS lookups enabled? If so your webserver will be slowed down by any DNS lag.
