Hi,

I am recently employed here, and am kind of walking in blind to the previous administrators 'software storage system' We're getting a SCSI Bus Timeout on our nightly backups, and before I try changing the hardware (which I know it's most likely to be) I want to apply the latest build that Veritas has on their website. However, I cannot find the serial number for our copy of BackupExec, I can find the serial for 7, and for the upgrade to 7.5, also for 9, but not for 8 (which I'm pretty sure we still need to use because we're on 4.11, not 4.2)

I apologize for the rambling, I'll get right to the point, does anyone know of any way that you can pull the serial number from the backup exec objects in the NDS tree, from the NLM's, or from the file system?

I called veritas, and since our product was not registered, there isn't much they can do to help us.

thanks for your help
Josh

For Backup Exec 8.5, if I go to Help --> About Backup Exec, it will tell me the version number AND list all the serial numbers. Is that what you needed to know?

- Zoe, that's ZOH-EEE, get it right please

thanks, I totally forgot about the options in the job manager as opposed to the NetWare Client, I ended up calling them (veritas) and I guess if you run a bediag at the server prompt, it will create a bediag.fax file in the bkupexec directory, and the serial no will be at the top of that file also.

thanks again,
Josh
