Finding substrings in text fields

I hope someone can help!?

I am attempting to extract information from within a text string/field. CR claims 'Blob field or memo field cannot be used in a formula'. Is there an alternative approach that anyone knows of?

The following is an example of information held in a text field, and I need to just extract 'User : STyrrell' (for example):

1. Date of Adjustment: Thu 08-Mar-2001
2. User : STyrrell
3. Type of Adjustment: Adjustment
4. Amount of Adjustment: £0.33
5. Adjustment Date: Thu 08-Mar-2001
6. The Following Calls have been closed:
Adjustment Request ID - 2101
To credit duplicate CDRs on Jan/Feb bills.
