finding port - avaya 2410

hi all,

got a problem, i have plugged in an avaya 2410 phone in a port, i have a dial tone so i know its connected to our avaya switch board but i cant dial any numbers, cant even dial 0 to get the operator (as the port comes up on there console)

how do i find out the port number for this phone please

The 2410 is a digital set. have you use the TTI code to assign the extension to the phone? If so, do a as joe2938 said. if not then display feature-access-code to find your TTI code, and display system-parameter feature to see what you TTI securety code is. goto the phone in question, pickup the headset, type in the access code, then the securety then the extension. Then you call display station and see the port number.

but i dont know what the phones port number is so i cant add it to the system?

if i knew the port number i can then assign it an ext number and a name

when you say display station xxxx i know instead of xxxx you put the extension number of the phone but i dont know the extension number as i dont know the port, i need to add the port on the system before i can give that port an extension number

when DAVID said pick up the phone in question type in the access code, what access code is he on about?

in system-parameters features, you can set the COR for unassigned ports. If blank, they can't call anything. Set it to something that isn't outward restricted, call another set, it'll show the port as caller id.
Then change it back

ok i have found the table your talking about, how do i edit it to change it to a extension number?

just give a default cor that isn't blank and is allowed to call out
