I want to be able to extract the properties for a given executable from any PC on the network that has that executable on it.

For example, the executable file for Microsoft Excel 2002 is EXCEL.EXE and, if you right-click this file and select Properties, you get the following information:

Description: Microsoft Excel
Version: 10.0.2614.0

My company is currently using Radia and, so far, all I have seen that Radia can do is use install/uninstall to determine what is installed on PCs. The problem with this is that sometimes a program is uninstalled but is not removed from the registry and still reports as being installed so I think looking at the actual executables would be more definitive. Can this be done with Radia? If not, can it be done with Tivoli or other SW? Many thanks in advance...

has a product visual audit and it will tell you the details you want pretty cheap too.... but you get what you pay for and its pretty basic but does everything I need.

We use Track-It! and it is able to do what you are asking. It gives the executable name, description, version, size, vendor, path, etc. Very valuable tool, IMO.

Thanks,
