Is there a way in win 95/98 to find out the processor speed with out rebooting the machine in looking in the bios? Thanks.

There are a couple ways to do this from Windows without restarting.

Start | Run and type in either:

WINREP
Go to Options, choose Collected Information, and wait for it to generate the list

or

DXDIAG

if you have directx installed that will tell you,

C:\Program Files\DirectX\Setup\DxDiag.lnk

the opening screen will tell you your cpu type and speed.

Well, you learn something new every day from this forum.

WINREP is a pretty concise source for documenting your system resources (highlight area of interest and use Ctrl+C key combo to copy for pasting):

OPERSYSVER=4.10.2222
OPERSYSTEM=Windows 95 / 98
CPUTYPE=6
COMPSPEED=791 MHz
MEMRAM=511Mb
DRIVES=C: 10128Mb/29291Mb (FAT32)

[etc.]

The tool is there to help technicians diagnose problems.

WINREP doesn't work on my ME machine.

Here's another way,though;
Start/Run/type "msinfo32.exe"(w/o the quotes,of course)/
click "OK"

Unfortunatly this is NOT the ME forum...its 95/98. --MiggyD
