Ok .. so I went to VoIP lines from my T1 provider. I need to find out which lines on my punchblock are old POTS numbers (because the powers that be left some) or which ones are dynamic lines.

There used to be (a long time ago) 976 numbers you could call to get the system to read back the number to you, so you knew which line you were one.

Is there one (in the Philly Area, VERIZON) in my area that anyone knows about? I want it strictly for testing and punchdown purposes.

Thanks
-Chris

In kieu of that, just dial a cell phone with caller ID.

If you or someone in the office has a cell phone, call that cell phone from each POTs line and verify the number on the cell phones's LCD.

Boy... cell phones SEEM so convenient... I can't imagine why I don't want to get one..

Oh yeah .. I like going to lunch unbothered, and have a beer with the guys w/o my wife being able to get a hold of me. If I had one, I'd have it off 4/5ths of the time.

Thanks for the info.

Maybe they're different in various parts of the country, but mine has an "off" button.

Pep is right - ALL OF MINE HAVE THE ON/OFF Option.

PLUS - I CAN CHOOSE TO IGNORE THEM AS WELL.
