My CIO has asked me to find out how many mails were sent and recieved in the month of Jan2003. I have looked at the statsrep.nsf\mail & database view. Under mail and database report, there are 2 line items which have amounts for mails routed and mails delivered. How do I go about getting the figures (or doing the math)???

Thanks
Jason

I would suggest that you setup a "Reports" database.
That database will automatically gather the statistics you want.

You will receive nicely formatted reports that shows you things such as the largest message size, top 25 senders, and many more things.

You can schedule these reports to be generated weekly for example and choose weither you want to view them in the database or receive them in your mailbox or both.

To set up the Reports database properly, use the Administration help and look for "Reports database". This will show you everything you need to do and set to make the reporting work.

Good luck!

Hello Dominik

Thanks for the reply, it has lifted the mist (LOL)

I see that there was a reports db on the server. The ACl was not set properly. The rteports that I want are already there, yet again not enabled. But, when I edit one of the report to check whats happening, there is a field that asks whether to save or send and save. If the report is saved, where does it save it to? Baxk to the reports db?

Jason

Yes indeed! The reports are always saved inside the reports database. Personally I recommend to always save the reports and optionally to also send them if you need this.

Good luck with te reports!

Unable to run report, check the Domino MessageTrack Store.

What does this mean?
Jason

it means that you need to enable message tracking.

in the nab, servers-configurations view, edit the configuration document for your mail server and under smtp/routing is a sub tab called message tracking.
you need to enable this. (add at least admin & localdomainserver groups to the allow message tracking fields. optionally you can have it track subjects as well
.

for more information about message tracking check your admin help db.

Hi,

Indeed: you need to enable message tracking on all of your server that you want to have statistics from.

I repeat my first comment however: do a search in the Domino Administration help on this topic and make sure you enabled all tasks for this to work and configure them correctly.

Listing every configuration that is necessary would be to much for this forum. The help database clearly explains every step to take!

Good luck!
