That will work here for my NYC site but i guess there's no way for me to remotely find the cirucit IDs for my remote locations, right? and where exactly from the PBX am i tracing cables? i know my software pretty well, but I am definitely not a tech so hardware does not come so easily to me. But if you tell me I'm sure i can figure it out. thanks Ace.
The only way you can ind out for sure it with your telco provider. make a call to them and ask them which of your T1 circuits have been disabled (of cours you give them the list to monitor all 4 and you have manually disabled one). repeat this for the other 3.
Of course you can only do this if you know that there's no traffic on the T1 involved (otherwise the calls on there are disconnected)
Another method for IDing circuits is getting a copy of the customers CSR or bill that lists the ckts with the IDs. Then try to locate them @ the MPOE or NIUs. If they are marked correctly, you should be able to trace the jumpers, or cable to your equipment. If not, then request the telco to ID the cable/pair/binding posts for all your ckts, or a cable inventory for the building of what is assigned to what pairs! Depending upon what your relationship is with the telco it might take a while. Also you can try to escalate the request to telco mgt. My experience in this sort of thing over the years has been very interesting at times with telco records...
But as you mentioned, you are at a different location so I would get the CSR or bill, as above, and work it from that angle with telco. If the ckts are from another provider(MCI, ICG) they have their own IDs besides the LEC ID, so this could present a problem. Try any combination of things and see what happens!
