How can one find out how many backlinks some site has?

Go to Google, enter: link:www.[yoursite].com.

For example, if you enter link:

http://www.google.com

the results will show that 21 million + link to Google.

http://www.Morter.com

thanks, i don't understand it, I basically have my site on 7 different sites, but google shows only one , and yahoo and MSN shows almost all 7

Google will never show all of your backlinks. Yahoo does the best.

They are there, they don't show.
