Hello,

I am trying to add a printer to a client's PC. I know the printer's hostname but I don't know the name of the print server that the printer is attached to. Is there a network utility for Windows that allows you to get the print server name of a network printer?

Thanks for any response.

If it's a HP external printserver you can attach it to almost any printer then just press the test page button and you'll get a configuration page with the hostname along with the IP if assigned by a DHCP or static stored in the print server.
Assuming it's a HP printserver, and you're not close to it you can download HP's Install Network Printer Wizard that will scan the network for print servers.
