Receiving these errors during backup

AE0016 Unexpected return from FindFirstFile API. Unable to backup files after (FILE=Dñ{§ûwP)øwÿÿÿÿTñ{Þ¶üwØ, EC=2,The system cannot find the file specified. )

AE0016 Unexpected return from FindFirstFile API. Unable to backup files after (FILE=C:\WINNT\system32\Perflib_Perfdata_c0c.dat, EC=2,The system cannot find the file specified. )

I found on the CA site what the FindFirstFile API is but I cannot find how to fix the problem. Any Ideas?

I'm having the same problem with my backup. Were you ever able to find out anything new about this problem? If so, any info would be greatly appreciated.

ck to see if it always happens with the same data.

try a test backup of the directory where the error happens.
try a backup with that directory excluded.

I find this can happen if the entire drive is not being selected.

Don't omit any folders from the backup selections, use filters to omit any directories.

See if it helps.

I would also check for file system corruption - or whether in fact if you browse to the directory that it mentions - if you see the same corrupted characters - if so, some of them are probably control characters which will not be able to be backed up from Windows (or even copied using Windows explorer).
