If when updating from Windows 98 to Windows 2000, you get the error Cannot Start FindFast Indexer or some similar message you can do two things. You can follow the instructions on the Microsoft Support Web site. This may fail as it did in my situation. What I finally did was go to the Registry (Regedit) search for the value notfindfast and modified the value from 0 (zero) to 1. No more problems.
 
Just get rid of it, and everywhere you find anything related to it. It really slows down the computer anyway! Matt
