I need to be able to search across multiple documents for a string that includes both numbers and letters. Using the 'Search' feature does not return any results, whether I am searching in a single document or across multiple documents. Using 'Find' locates the string within the open document just fine.

The 'Search' function does return results over multiple documents in some cases, and I'm not sure what the difference is. I've tried a variety of scenarios. For instance, searching for $1,671.19 returns nothing. Searching for 671 returns results. Searching for C05249E01275660 returns nothing. Searching for any part of that string returns nothing. I can use 'Find' if the document is open to locate all of these within that document.

What's the difference between these two functions, and how can I make one of them work the way I want it to?

Thanks,

Cathy
