Is there any way in MATWorX Studio or Moc to look at a 2000IVS and find already programmed Extensions that are not being used due to many moves and personnel changes over the years?

I know you can do this at the PBX by looking at the line cards for solid red lights however, I have 18 buildings and it’s not always convenient this way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gentlemen

There's no way for the PBX to know if the extension is unused. It can only show you what's programmed.

I usually just check what is cross connected versus what is programmed. Unfortunately with at least 18 feeder cables, some ports may be programmed and cross connected on the switch side, but not on the other ends. It would probably be a good idea to go ahead and take some time to map out the cables and compare against the switch programming.

Yeah.... in MatWorx you can do a LEN Listup, that will show you what's programmed.

A good start if you're using 66 blocks is that any time a connection "frees up", I pull the jumpers off of the block, so I can at a glance see what's available and what's not. Additionally, if I'm doing a cross-connect between 66 blocks, I try to at least pull the other end loose (if not out), so once again I can look and see what's available.

A Tone/Probe kit is always handy....

Just my $.02

Hi, you can use command EC1. This command displays if there is a terminal connected at the end of the cable, if it's a SLT or digital, if there is a card mounted in the PIM etc..

Format

EC1>xxxx: aa bb cc

xxxx- extn number

aa- 00 SLT
10 digital

bb- 00 Terminal not connected
01 Terminal connected
02 short
03 Ringing
04 Card not mounted
05 Terminal failure
06 DLC card down
08 Line failure detect

cc- 01 idle
02 line lockout
Other than 01,02 busy

I hope this helps.

Sorry, forgot to mention that this command has trouble detecting fax machines and modems connected to the PBX. What we do is make busy the extn and change the RSC to block all external calls and then wait and see if anyone complains.

Another thing to watch out for is having an unprogrammed len on a station card (flashing) and when you try to use it the phone dosen't work. This is a time slot issue. The time slot is used by another card or phone. Conference cards are great for this as well as recievers and dual path phones. Command F70>len>xxyy will show you if there is a time slot available for that len. yy NEEDS to be 01. Just my $.02 too!
