Dear all,

We have a user on a Apple Mac who has purhcased a wireless router and connected it to the internal windows network.

The router works fine, apart from their is no security enabled.

The router is a Netgear DG834G and I need to find the IP address to access the user interface to put a security key on the router.

Can anyone identify the best way of finding the IP of the router to change the security settings.

Any help much appeciated.

The factory default IP is 192.168.0.1. If it has been changed you can reset it using the reset button. Or if you don't want to reset it, you can discover the IP using an ethernet analyzer like Ethereal.

if memory serves me correctly, connect one of the computers directly to the router via a LAN port and when you use the default ip address you should be able to access the config.

Or, if router has DHCP enabled, computer direct to router, then at a command prompt type ipconfig /all. That'll show you the gateway which is the router's I.P.
