I have 2 large spreadsheets both with a list of people's names. I need to find those names which appear in both lists. Can anyone tell me how to do this - I've tried various lookup options but can't get it to work. I can think how to do it in access using find duplicates but how can i do this in excel

Hi,

First make a list using the data from BOTH workbooks, using a second column to identify the source. You could copy 'n' paste, but I would do a UNION ALL query using MS Query. faq68-5829

Then use a COUNTIF function or a Count query.
