'Find' function won't work with PDF 1.3 files

I am using Acrobat 3.0 and Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 (which I just downloaded last week from Adobe).

With both of these products I can use the 'Find' function (CTRL-F or from the Edit menu) to locate text in drawings, as long as the version is PDF 1.2 or earlier.

However, neither product lets me 'find' text in drawings of PDF version 1.3. I was particularly surprised that the newest Reader would not find text in the v. 1.3 files.

Does anyone have a solution?

After almost 2 weeks, I have no suggestions. Does no one else have this problem? I have run into several other people who say they have seen the same thing, but no on seems to have a suggestion.

Help, please?
