How do you find out which AD object using a specific email address within Active Directory or Exchange System Manager??

Open ADUC, right click on your domain name and click find.
Click on the Advanced tab.
The "Field" button/drop down select User - Proxy Addresses (or Group or Contact if you are searching for one of those).
Leave the Condition as "Starts with" and in the Value field type "smtp:mail@domain.com"
To check if a public folder has the particular address, open Exchange administrator, expand recipients, right-click on "All Address Lists" and click "New" (don't worry, you aren't actually going to create an address list.)
Give the "list" a name and click Filter Rules.
Click the Advanced tab and enter the same critera as above, except select Field - Public Folders - Proxy Addresses.
