I'm working with a 15,000 item inventory database. I need to pull out the duplicates in the Item Number category so I can make it a primay. I'm working in Access 97.

I do not have the option of using the "Find Duplicates" wizard.

Any ideas?

the easiest way would be to create an identical copy of the table (copy structure only). Once u have this empty table, create your primary key on the [item number] field. Then create an append query to append all the data form the orig table into the empty tabel. Only unique records should copy over.

Let me know if this helps at all.

No need for second table. Do a self Join.

Thanks so much to both of you!

As soon as I finished posting, my boss gave me the Office disk that I had been asking him about for a week, so I was able to install the advanced wizards. (YAY!)
